Families Forward Washington(FFW)

The Families Forward Washington (FFW) study has re-started enrollment after a two month pause. Non-custodial parents who live in Benton, Franklin or Walla Walla counties can contact Rosa Reyna at Goodwill of the Columbia to learn more and check eligibility. Eligible parents can sign up for FFW through an online and phone-based enrollment process. Interested parents must have a computer with internet connection, not just a smart phone, to enroll remotely into FFW.

Free of charge, each participant receives up to six months of in-demand job training with the opportunity to receive certifications, career counseling and job placement services with a Goodwill job developer, and special child support assistance. The program is part of a study to learn how to best help parents.

Three free job trainings are available with socially distant protocols in place. FFW courses offered are:

  • Truck Driving/CDL
  • Welding
  • Google IT

Prior to the pandemic, FFW participants were completing training and getting good jobs, and we hope that these certifications will continue to help non-resident parents to gain employment. FFW truck driving graduates in particular have been finding employment after completing their CDL certification.

Program enrollment will continue through June 30, 2020 and we hope you’ll spread the word! Contact Rosa Reyna at Goodwill for more information at 509-460-4704, ext. 323 or email ffw@goodwillotc.org.
