Virtual Workshop 1: Part 1 - Intro to School Mental Wellness: Trauma- Responsiveness Practices

Audience:  All Educators (ASL Interpreters Provided, English Only)

Description:

This 2 part training will assist school personnel with using a trauma-responsive lens in understanding the various types of trauma and how trauma affects staff, students, families and communities.

Part 1 - Foundations to Trauma-Responsiveness Practices

This training will introduce adverse childhood and community experiences (ACEs/ACERs), review local data on health and school outcomes and the physiology of toxic stress. Participants will learn about the effects of trauma on the brain and its impact on health and wellness as well as identify different types of trauma.

Part 2 - Foundations to Resilience Building Practices

The second part of this training will introduce participants to the impact of trauma in schools but more importantly how to design trauma responsive environments.  Participants will also learn how to identify risk and protective factors and how to leverage Transformative SEL to respond to trauma.
