Free Mindful Music Group Lessons for Youth and Adult Survivors

Music Beyond Measure engages trauma survivors in arts-based, healing-centered programs that teach coping skills through music education, collaboration in songwriting, and empowerment through performance. Based in New Jersey and serving the tri-state area, MBM is a registered 501c3 organization dedicated to individual and community healing through the arts.

We are so excited to present our new Mindful Music program, which merges quality music instruction with mindfulness techniques meant to reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression. By incorporating these techniques into the lesson, students of all ages will learn how to become more proficient at their instrument, develop a mindful creative practice, and manage their mental and emotional well-being through the arts.

The many benefits of mindfulness, coupled with the benefits of music create a powerful opportunity for participants to make the arts an active agent in their recovery.

Group classes in singing, songwriting, creative writing, percussion, and visual art are currently being offered free of charge to youth and adult survivors of child abuse (physical/emotional), domestic violence, and sexual assault. Potential participants must referred by a qualifying community organization in NJ/NY providing direct services to victims/survivors or through a licensed therapist/counselor. All classes are currently being held virtually with a 15-person maximum for each class.
