The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated existing health and economic inequities in the Latino community. During the initial months of the pandemic, Latinos comprised a disproportionate share of infections in Placer County, which placed a spotlight on the need for timely information, availability and distribution of resources, and greater collaboration among government, the private sector and community-based organizations.

This year’s Forum on the Latino Community will provide an opportunity to discuss these important issues and gain insights on lessons learned as our community continues to navigate the impacts of COVID-19. Until a safe vaccine is developed and is widely available to the general public, the Latino community will need to remain vigilant, promote solutions, and exercise due diligence to ensure governmental entities are responsive to the community.
