  • Report from community outreach team
    • Meeting with State Rep Pettalia
    • Presentation to Kiwanis in Rogers City.

4:40 β€œPaper Tigers” documentary on innovative classroom dealing with traumatized children.  Where should we show it? When? Does anyone have any connections with the theater in town or how about ACC? Should we consider extending it to community colleges or venues in the surrounding region (Roger's City, Alcona?)

4:55 Discussion on Emotions Anonymous and Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse (ASCA). The ASCA manual for starting groups can be found on their website.  Here is the link to the group manual: http://www.ascasupport.org/_do...vivor_to_thriver.pdf

5:10 Human Service Coordinating Council: 7/15/15.  We are scheduled for the next HSCC meeting.  The HSCC is a group of service agencies (housing, child welfare, DHS, Shelter Incorporated, CAC, homeless agency, heating assistance, library and others)  that get together monthly to discuss the services they provide. I was going to do a powerpoint briefly explaining ACE/Toxic Stress and how this affects neurodevelopment.  Then I wanted to focus on how trauma-informed communities could help their organizations in their own work and possibly see if any would like informational presentations from our group on any or all of these topics.

5:20 Other issues, questions, concerns: I wanted to ask If anyone has connections with the other service agencies or churches -- to see if they would like educational presentations on ACES/Toxic Stress/Disrupted Neurodevelopment and Trauma-Informed/Resilience Building Practices.  I have presented to Alcona Democrats and Alpena Exchange Club and am working on the Chamber of Commerce.

5:25 Evaluate this meeting and set time/date for next meeting

5:30 Adjourn
