Raising of America evening screening and Parental leave Panel on August 28, 2017 at the CA State Capitol

 

We wanted to share information with you about an important event taking place next week sponsored by some of our California Essentials for Childhood Initiative partners on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 4:45 pm - 7:00 pm at the California State Capitol, Eureka Room (1315 10th Street, Sacramento - basement).  

The event - “Equal Rights to Parental Leave: A Strong Start for all Children” - includes a special screening of “The Raising of America,” as well as an interactive forum on the benefits of parental leave, and a hosted reception with leaders, advocates, legislators and legislative staff.  Speakers and panelists include: Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, Clarissa Doutherd, Executive Director, Parent Voices Oakland, Dr. Anthony Iton, Senior Vice President, The California Endowment, Hilary Dessouky, General Counsel, Patagonia, and Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Founder and CEO, The Representation Project, and Second Lady of California. The event will be moderated by Camille Maben, Executive Director, First 5 California.

The event supports the public health goals of the Essentials for Childhood Initiative to raise awareness and commitment to promote safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments for children to prevent maltreatment, and assure that children reach their full potential.   Please feel free to share and see the attached flyer for the RSVP link and for more information.
