Introductions: Andi Clements, Becky Haas, Robin Crumley, Ginger Bastian, Stacey Tedford, Julia Bernard, Becky Campbell, Beth Cox, Pat Swartz, Brandy Maltsburger, Audra Morrow (Plus 2 interns), Jamye Carr, Erin Culbertson, Tonya Leonard, Tori Clements, and Jamie Mabe

Meeting Topics/Announcements:

  • Becky reviewed highlights on the trauma informed system of care coalition:
    • Meet every other month
    • Exist to create a system of care and what that looks like
    • Collaborations encouraged
    • Current partners shared- let team leadership know if you want to be a partner
    • Continuing education- Gainesville FL video- mental leveling- viewed
    • Welcome to Bristol Promise visitors
    • Invite to April 4th Paper Tigers video at DP Culp
  • Andi reviewed trauma responsive communities and what they look like
  • Ginger shared the NE Tennessee ACEs connection---name of site is ACES connection network- and is created as a hub for coalition items- each section was reviewed from the site; everyone encouraged to sign up for site, invitations to go out
  • Partner updates shared:
    • Trauma Informed Pilot Program- Building Strong Brains and Strong Families- updates presented from Andi, Robin, Stacey, and Becky- BGC Full time staff trained Dec 2016, part time staff trained in January 2017, February training to start for volunteers, construction of quiet room continues, ACEs too high efforts continue, research piece waiting on IRB input, items coming in for quiet room, club story shared – why we are doing this- so important for the future of our families
    • Brandy- grant at Frontier Health- in the doctors’ offices; OB offices- participation with moms attendance is issue—moms group focus--incentives for mothers- 10wk focus with topics
    • Beth Cox- coordinate school health- shared about Aug 5th Back to School Bash efforts to reach 1500 community kids and the need for family friendly vendors, volunteers and school supplies (backpacks and list of items) – resources discussed
    • Pat- train the trainer process discussed
    • Erin- shared we have 724 kids in custody in TN- 170 in Washington county
    • Julia- training for students- lectures started and she will be attending SE Organization training
    • Audra- corrections grant- playroom created, psychology of spaces and why things are done was eye opening to her team—welcome sign and office updates- collaboration with Stacey very positive
  • Upcoming trainings- SWAG, SRO in service, SAMHSA Gains Center (Becky), Society of behavioral medicine (Andi), The River, Train the Trainer, Juvenile Court, lecture guest speaker

 Committee Reports:

  • Outreach: trainings continue
  • Resource Development- Need volunteers to develop website page with Julia
  • ACEs Too High- site created; ready to send out invites to join
  • Scribe- Robin and Eric as backup

 Dates to Remember:

  • March 30th- Mother Child Symposium- ETSU Nursing – 8-5pm Millennium
  • April 4th- DP Culp- 6:30pm- Paper Tigers video
  • Next TIC coalition meeting April 19th - 10am JCPD
