The Health Policy Institute of Ohio recently released its latest Health Value Dashboard and the results were clear: Ohioans live less healthy lives and spend more on health care than people in most other states.

Ohio ranks 47th out of all states and the District of Columbia on health value, a measure of Ohio’s combined population health and healthcare spending.

Unfortunately, that is a familiar story for our state.

Thank you, Porter, for sharing this article. I didn't know about ACEs in the years I was teaching in a high school in Appalachia Ohio, but the evidence of generational poverty and generation abuse was evident to me even then. I am glad Reem is raising awareness about this important topic. One thing that I feel would help immensely:  teacher training about ACEs (and how they affect a child's behavior and learning) AND the role teachers can play in fostering resilience.
