Ukiah City Approves Plans for a Homeless Shelter and Community Center

Plans are moving forward on the development of a 7000 square foot facility that will provide shelter and community resources.  Not without controversy, the effort to establish a homeless shelter and community center is being lead by Redwood Community Services.  According to Camille Schrader of Redwood Community Services, they are hopeful that the shelter will lessen the suffering of those who need help.  Renovations will include adding a community garden.

The work of Redwood Community Center is based in the philosophy of community integrated living. All of our current programs share the belief that with proper support services and a community of people that are dedicated to a common goal, we will successfully make a difference in the lives of the children and youth in our community. RCS joins the child welfare movement toward permanency and well-being, and has extended its programs and services with the involvement of county partners working collaboratively to insure the best possible outcomes for our most vulnerable population.  Learn more: http://rcs4kids.org/
