How Gratitude Helps Your Brain and Mental Health (thebestbrainpossible.com)

Research has proven many significant benefits in cultivating gratitude for mental and physical health. Studies show that the practice of gratitude can increase happiness levels by an average of 25 percent and overall health by, for example, increasing the quantity and quality of sleep. Beneficial outcomes can be achieved by such simple practices as praying, writing in a gratitude journal, placing a thankful phone call, making a mental gratitude list, or writing a thank-you letter to someone.

The attached table summarizes all of the statutes and passed resolutions that contain the words "Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)" and trauma-informed language through the end of 2018. There are nearly 60 statutes with the earliest law enacted in Washington State in 2011. The laws are categorized by subject matter such health care, education, training, and funding. North Carolina Statewide ACEs Connection Site Launches

Community managers from 12 of 17 North Carolina ACEs Initiatives and the North Carolina statewide site met and exchanged information and ideas. North Carolina launched a statewide ACEs Connection site at the Benchmarks' Partnering for Excellence Annual Conference today. "We are excited to organize the state and connect people with their local resources to each other, and to be able to capture and catalogue all the great work that is being done on the community level," said Catherine Joyner.

Nurturing relationships in childhood boost adult mental health, relationships

We're proud to announce major research that suggests that positive childhood experiences — such as supportive family interactions, caring relationships with friends, and connections in the community — are associated with reductions in chances of adult depression and poor mental health, and increases in the chances of having healthy relationships in adulthood.
