Iowa ACEs Action (IA)

Iowa ACEs Action connects individuals and communities across Iowa who are reducing adverse childhood experiences and the impact of toxic stress. This collaborative online community serves as the venue for sharing resources and best practices, and for launching discussion and open communication across all regions of our state.

Central Iowa ACEs Sets Direction

The Central Iowa ACEs 360 Steering Committee approved a strategic plan and new coalition structure at their June meeting. The strategic plan follows the Spectrum of Prevention framework from the Prevention Institute to ensure a multi-faceted, comprehensive approach for responding to ACEs. New efforts key to the plan include deepening work in key sectors through the development of sector-based strategies.

The new coalition structure focuses on three equally important tiers: Community Learning Circle, Steering Committee, and ACEs Action Groups. This new structure was developed to:

  • Provide opportunities for learning and engagement for anyone interested in the region
  • Deepen and accelerate work in core areas
  • Maintain leadership with the steering committee to view collective work throughout the region

Attached is a document providing an overview of the strategic plan and coalition structure. A special thank you goes to focus group participants and steering committee members that spent time contributing to the development of the strategic plan. We will share opportunities to engage in the new coalition structure as it begins its implementation.

As an Iowa farm girl, I'm always excited to learn from the Champions on the front line in my home state.

In gratitude,
