CAP Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen families to prevent child abuse and neglect. Through this collaboration, prevention services and supports help protect children and produce thriving families.

Ever since April was designated as National Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month in 1983, Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) and its nationwide network of state chapters, along with other child welfare organizations, have recognized it as a time to raise awareness and inspire collective action, so that our countryโ€™s children can lead their best lives.

Prevent Child Abuse Idaho, a chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, and the Idaho Children's Trust Fund have partnered with local businesses to raise awareness for CAP Month. Some businesses that are participating in the campaign with activities such as Pinwheels for Prevention, Ribbons of Hope, and Wear Blue Day on April 9th. Other partners have provided donations, created an item of the month, and provided space for window paintings.
