Agenda and Meeting notes from 4/13/22

The Healthy Blue Initiative Leadership Team was joined by a young man who was recently adopted to share his insights about learning resiliency skills and how we can reach more youth in foster care and youth in high schools.

               HBI Team Meeting

Date: 4/13/22    4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Attendees: Zyante, Carey, Amy, Kelly Purcell, Kristy Blackwell

Goals:

  1. Discussing/creating plan for paying CRM trainers in HBI counties
  2. Explain how to input presentations in presentations tracker
  1. Provide updates about meetings with leaders/trainings
  1. Strategic planning support/funding support ideas for initiatives

-Could we invite Mebane to come speak about strategic planning

-Schedule for end of May (they can invite steering committee/members)

  1. Proposing perhaps deciding on different time to meet

Ideas/Specifications/Updates:

  • Kristy supporting with foster families and children events
  • Accelerator program sustainability plan
  • Collaborate about events/groups to dovetail for trainings/provide support
  • COOP plan/communicating what’s involved with being part of the COOP

Revisit:

  • Foster Family Alliance - how can we connect with them? Can Kristy help us connect to dovetail?
  • Gift cards for foster child to be a voice on this team- Visa cards, credit unions can do it without fees.
  • Updates on funding streams/opportunities for helping sustain 6 county initiatives.

Zyante, former foster child who was recently adopted, shared about how he used resiliency skills.

CRM for Youth:

Could we offer CRM workshop for all teens including youth in foster care?

Do we go through high schools or foster family alliance?

Discuss timing:

Reverend Barnett to co-facilitate?

3 trainers would be needed

Counselors and school therapists to share with youth

Start with New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender as a test run?

Connect to Robeson, Bladen, Guilford through SAYSo and LINKS programs?

May and early June register students :

Perhaps schedule for June right after school gets out

**Circled back to dovetailing Sayso and LINKS first and then offer the virtual training in the fall through the schools or virtual training.

  1. Need to figure out if foster families can sign for foster child
  2. Who do we need to reach out to advertise and get parents to register their child?

One hour workshop for teens

We’d need to have explanation of the workshop to communicate to parents, students, school counselors.

Could we provide incentive for attending to workshop

Could we hire Kristy to be a liaison for LINKS and SAYSo to help coordinate trainings

Could we pay to get Annie from Pender DSS CRM trained?

Can increase the pay for trainers from $25/hour to $40/hour?

Task

Carey to look at grant for hourly rate for paying CRM trainers to increase pay and see if we could train invite Annie at Pender DSS CRM trainer with the funding

Carey to send Zy $25 gift card

Amy to use pre and post training data to post on the HBI site

Kristy to look at coordinating with youth organizations including LINKS and SAYSo

Kelly continues to meet with leaders to create strategic planning and get MOAs in progress.

Kelly to schedule meeting with leaders and Mebane for support with strategic planning

Next Meeting will be Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.
