I am a wind-withstanding ‘a‘ali‘i; no wind can topple me over.

Mahalo!

Can we give a "shout out" to our educators!!! My youngest has started her distance learning at a Honolulu middle school- and while it is not the most optimum way to learn her 8th grade teachers (particularly her ELA teacher) are bringing it!!! Her teachers have done things like dressed in costumes, provided engaging and introspective questions, introduced new and challenging concepts and most of all, made each and every one of her students feel like they are part of a connected and loved classroom.

Iʻve taught middle school- it is not the easiest grade levels to teach- there are neurological/biological changes, the need for students to feel constantly "safe and connected"- not a child, yet not a teen, yet not an adult- so much to process. . . teaching middle school is challenging enough- throw in a pandemic, physical distancing, distance learning, economic recession and racial divides?

Mahalo nui loa to all educators! Thank you for showing up and showing out!

Danny
