Building Connections for Resilient Kids

In early May, the Community Resilience Coalition of Guelph & Wellington launched the “Building Connections for Resilient Kids” campaign about the importance of connections during childhood. Connections with adults help children develop resilience to face life’s challenges. These connections can be small actions that adults don’t realize have a big impact on a child’s wellbeing.

The Coalition released a series of 8 short videos illustrating stories from community members about adults who had a positive, lasting impact on their lives during childhood. The short videos show simple ways that adults can build connections with children. You can watch all of the videos here or on the Community Resilience Coalitions social media channels.

The goal is to inspire adults  to continue building these connections with children – and to build new ones too. The Coalition is also inviting community members and caring adults to share the videos with their networks and/or contribute their own stories, which the Coalition will share as examples of how all adults can make connections with children in their lives.

Ways to contribute:

  1. Share a story on social media about an adult who had a positive, lasting impact on your life when you were a child using video, audio, art, poetry, short story, music – any creative way you choose.

  1. Follow and tag the Community Resilience Coalition in your post.

  1. Challenge other community leaders to share their stories by tagging them in your post.
