Hello all,

We hope that you are able to join us for our next Trauma Informed Congregations Community of Practice meeting, scheduled for next Wednesday, April 29, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. ET (10:30-noon PT; 11:30-1:00 MT; 12:30-2:00 CT).  The agenda for this meeting is included below.

Please note, our meeting will take place through the Adobe Connect Software Conferencing.  This will allow you to view presentations, take part in the survey, view who are the other participants on the call, and communicate with each other if desired.  This will also allow us to record our meetings for those of you who may be unable to attend on Wednesday, or if you would like to share with others.  Audio for the call will be through a conference call line.  Access information for both our Adobe Connect ‘room’ and conference call is:

Meeting agenda (also attached):

  • Welcome (Kimberly Konkel)
  • Adobe Connect logistics, including ‘virtual introduction’ (Cherri Pruitt)
  • Burning Announcements, Questions, Thoughts (All)
  • Briefing from Promundo (Andrew Levack) - US Promundo is a global leader in promoting gender justice and preventing violence in societies, communities, and homes by working to engage men and boys, in partnership with women and girls.
  • Briefing on the National Survey on Teen Relationships & Intimate Violence (STRiV) (Elizabeth Mumford and Bruce Taylor)
NORC is conducting the first comprehensive survey of teen dating violence in the United States. This study is sponsored by the National Institute of Justice. The goal is to understand how widespread dating violence (TDV) and adolescent relationship aggression (ARA) is among adolescents and teenagers in the U.S.
  • Community Business (Kimberly)
  • Creating a planning group for the Congregation and Community portion for the Women and Trauma Federal Partners Committee’s national meeting Sept 29th-30th.
  • Operationalizing the Linear Plan –During the meeting we will conduct a poll and have a discussion about the following questions.
  • If you were forced to choose to work on only one of the strategic objectives, which one would you choose?  We ask this because we are wondering if we should have small groups that work on an objective together and then have small group reports during our monthly meeting.  Or does the group really want to focus on one objective intensely?
  • Are skills you’d like to learn or topics/issues you’d like to be briefed on?  We are building a list of presenters for the next 6-9 months and would like to know what the group wants to learn.
  • Are there promising practices or emerging models that you’d like to share with the group?
  • Who in your networks should join us next month?
  • Community Problem Solving and Support
This is going to be a monthly feature.  We will hold 15 minutes to have discussion about current happenings and allow people to ask the groups advice, share learned wisdom (even when it comes from failure) and give support, comfort, and hope.
