Our mission is to prevent and heal adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) by promoting ideas, policies, and practices that increase awareness, compassion, and resilience in El Dorado County. Our vision is that everyone thrives in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.

Trauma Knowledge for EDC Service Providers

Many of us work with individuals in El Dorado County who have experienced and/or are experiencing trauma. In response, the El Dorado County Child Abuse Prevention Council, Breastfeeding Coalition, Alcohol and Drug Programs and the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Program collaborated to provide an all-day training at Cold Springs Church on February 15th 2017 where approximately 118 county and community service providers were in attendance. At the training, Gabriella Grant, from the California Center for Excellence in Trauma-Informed Care, provided information on what trauma is, how to best work with clients exhibiting unsafe behaviors, and how to care for oneself to avoid burn-out or re-traumatizing clients. Response to the training was extremely positive as participants left with an increase in knowledge and skills to implement trauma-informed services.
