Welcome to Durango ACEs Connection!

Welcome to the Durango, CO ACEs Connection Community! We’re glad you are here.

Southwest Colorado is committed to taking a collective impact approach to prevention, this includes ACEs and Resiliency Education. This community exists to share resources, research, and information, exchange ideas, and work collaboratively across sectors to develop solutions that support trauma-informed and resilience-building practices in all domains of life and work.

As a rural region with grit and heart, we are committed to working together to build the resilience of our youth, families, businesses, schools, across all sectors. Although we are in the early stages of our collective work, we are already building momentum in brining more awareness of the affects of trauma and creating ways to build community resilience for all.

 Community Manager: Doty Shepard

 About Doty

Doty Shepard earned a Master of Arts degree specializing in transforming youth and family culture, then spent the next twenty years working in the field. Motivated by a deep compassion for the impact of trauma in her own community, Doty sought training from the Center for Trauma Informed Innovation at Truman Medical Centers in Kansas City, Missouri, so she could serve as a resource for healing and resilience.

Doty is the Founder and Executive Director of Resilient Colorado and serves as a consultant and educator for Trauma Informed Schools & Trauma Informed Care, and Resilient Minds, teaching others about the impact of trauma on brains, bodies, and behaviors where she specializes in helping organizations infuse trauma sensitive practices into all that they do while cultivating the resilience of both staff and clientele. Resilient Colorado addresses ACEs Science and Resiliency Science in interactive training workshops for both youth and adults. The mission of Resilient Colorado is to build trauma sensitive communities across the region.
