Karen Schetzina, MD, MPH, FAAP is a general pediatrician, epidemiologist, Professor of Pediatrics, and Director of the Child and Family Health Institute at East Tennessee State University (ETSU). She is a founding member of the Strong BRAIN Institute (SBI), a unit at ETSU established in Spring 2020 to promote awareness and study of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs); dissemination of evidence-based practices that prevent, reduce or mitigate the effects of ACEs; and a trauma-informed citizenry and workforce. Currently she serves as Chair of the Leadership Council for the STRONG Accountable Care Community in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, a collective impact organization with a strategic focus on regional resilience and priority initiative of expanding ACEs, trauma, and resilience training in the region. She has led development of a number of trauma and resilience-informed programs for pediatric primary care and community settings.
Two team members from Cityblock will present on their care model and approach to integrating trauma-informed care. This presentation will cover Cityblock's approach to further investing in trauma-informed care and evaluating the impacts of a multi-level trauma-informed care intervention. Dr. Alina Schnake-Mahl is a social epidemiologist and health services researcher, and is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Urban Health Collaborative in the Drexel Dornsife School of Public Health and consults for Cityblock Health. Scott Heiser, MPH is the Head of Product Strategy at Cityblock Health, where he leads Cityblock's payment innovation work to help the company enter into new population segments with new products.
Please join us and share the call with those in your network who may be interested! All are welcome to attend.
Following the CTIPP CAN call, as always, will be the monthly Campaign Office Hour call for open-ended conversation, Q&A, and/or technical assistance. You can join for the whole hour or hop on at any time to ask your question, get an update, or anything else you need! Please check out the Office Hour ground rules for more information.
We also have two special announcements! First, we are excited to announce that we will be launching the Building a National Movement to Prevent Trauma and Foster Resilience workshop series starting January 7, 2022 alongside the National Prevention Science Coalition to Improve Lives and other organizations. You can learn more and register on the event's landing page on NPSC's website. Additionally, the Cultivating Resilience: Trauma in Schools podcast officially launched, and we encourage you to listen to the episodes and look at the resources here, or whatever streaming service you like to listen to podcasts on.  Please share this information with others!
As a reminder, we record our CTIPP CAN calls and put them on our YouTube channel for folks who are unable to join the calls live, or for those who want to watch again! You can subscribe to our channel to receive updates when new videos are uploaded. Please feel free to share this information and any recordings with others who may be interested in the topic. And, as a reminder, if you haven't already done so, join the Trauma Campaign and invite others to do the same!
