Alameda County ACEs Connection (CA)

A group bringing together professionals, community members, and advocates who share a passion to reduce trauma and build resiliency in Alameda County. Please use this group as a forum to share information, exchange ideas and host dialogue that lead to practical and community centered solutions.

New ACEs Connection community in Berkeley is beginning to set an agenda for a trauma-informed Berkeley. Join us!

Agenda
Discussion:
-City of Berkeley Contexts, Opportunities and Challenges
-Which sectors are not at the table?
-Which organizations will we reach out to with “ACEs 101” presentations?

Meeting Summary
ACEs Connection Network continues to support communities that are interested in building cross sector collaboratives aimed at creating and growing resilient communities. Several of these collaboratives have started across the county. Click here for a list of profiles of California ACN communities.

This is a brand new group, and we focused this second meeting on deciding what our first activities could be. Participants agreed that community outreach would be a good first step. There is willingness to do the presentations, as long as there will be support in developing an “ACEs 101” presentation that everyone can draw from.

We will begin working on this model, as well as continuing the discussion about future activities (such as screening the films Paper Tigers or Resilience). We expect to debut a page for this group on ACEs Connection at the next meeting.

Please join us at our next scheduled meeting on February 26, at the same location and time: Berkeley Library, North Branch, 4:00-5:30.  Flyer is attached.

I am in Berkeley and am also interested in building awareness and resilience through various sectors. I am sorry I missed the meeting yesterday (I am just discovering the many communities throughout this ACES connection network). i was on the planning committee for the International Transformational Resilience Coalition conference in Oakland on the theme of building psycho-social resilience at a state level (there is a community dedicated to those conversations). I look forward to staying in touch with this group to coordinate efforts.  Elizabeth@ClimateCompassion.org

I am interested in this group. I will be out of the country until April, but hope I can join you then. Rona

Rona! I can't believe I didn't mention this during our recent visit -- let's connect about this... looking forward to seeing you when you return! Warmly, Jenn
