Have you heard about the film Wrestling Ghosts? On September 29, it's coming to Oakland! And to Santa Cruz on 9/30.

Locally, I am helping to organize a screening of Wrestling Ghosts, a documentary that shares the intimate and courageous story of a young mother named Kim who calls in support to stay ahead of her triggers as she parents her young sons. Just getting to witness how she heals and grows as a parent and a person can help break the isolation we often feel as parents. So often, we feel we are the only ones wrestling with internal ghosts as we raise our kids. Thanks to Kim's courage in sharing her story, we can know now we aren't the only ones.
In the Bay Area, there are two screenings currently scheduled, in Oakland and Santa Cruz.

Event and registration details:

Saturday Sept. 29th @ 5PM at the First Congregational Church of Oakland.

Highlights of the Screening Event
  • Several stars in the film will be there, including Victor Lewis, coach and trauma specialist who will remain local after the film because he lives and works right here in Berkeley and Oakland!  He is a diversity trainer and coach who specializes in unraveling personal and collective trauma in the nervous system.
  • There is a growing healing community that is swelling up around this film as parents and trauma-informed practitioners are beginning to take notice of it. And in doing so, Wrestling Ghosts is creating an upswell in awareness about how parenting can be a path of healing, and a path of genuine community building.

This Wrestling Ghosts screening promises to be a healing event for all who gather. And our hope is that it will catalyze the formation of a lasting local network of support around parents and care providers of children in the Bay Area. As things speed up all across the Bay, we need supportive infrastructure now more than ever.
