As you know, SB 300 by Sen. Cortese is a modest reform to an extreme injustice.SB 300 is a two year bill that is currently in the Assembly, and we need your support to get the ⅔ vote we need to get this vital bill to the Governor’s desk.

At the upcoming training, you will have a chance to practice SB 300 talking points, learn how to participate in a legislative visit, and send some emails in support of this important bill!

The bill will address the injustice of the felony murder special circumstance law by allowing for a sentence other than the death penalty or life in prison without parole for a person who did not kill anyone, nor intend for anyone to die. This bill restores judicial discretion to impose a sentence of 25-years-to-life, rather than death or LWOP when the judge rules that it serves the interest of justice in a case where a special circumstance is charged.
