TAPP: Teachers and Parents as Partners (Positive Parenting Newsfeed)

Studies find that parental involvement in a child’s education can lead to more learning, higher test scores, graduation rates, and more opportunities to pursue higher education. Susan Sheridan, PhD, from the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families, and Schools, studied the effects of the program TAPP, or Teachers and Parents as Partners. The study found that students whose parents participated in the program had better academic skills, were better able to stay on task in school, and get along better with their peers.
