Child Tax Credit - help spread the news to families with children

Many U.S. families with children are not aware of the 2021 Refundable Child Tax Credit, part of the American Rescue Plan that President Biden signed on March 12, 2021.

Refundable means that families can receive the Child Tax Credit even if they earn little or no income or are unemployed.

Please help spread the word to families in your community.

  • The full credit is available to a single parent making less than $75,000 a year or a couple making less than $112,500 a year - partial credit available to those with higher incomes.
  • The one-year CTC provides $3600 per child under age 6 and $3000 per child ages 6-17.
  • The benefits of the one-year CTC are to be paid monthly by the IRS.

Payments are expected to begin in July 2021 and will go to the parent who claims the child deduction. To receive benefits, parents must file a tax return by May 17, 2021.

There is free tax filing help available to lower-income families;
