Thirty-one years ago, 14 women were murdered at Montreal’s École Polytechnique, simply because they were women.

Today, as they remember the victims of the anti-feminist attack on Dec. 6, 1989 — Geneviève Bergeron, Hélène Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Haviernick, Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz, Maryse Laganière, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay, Sonia Pelletier, Michèle Richard, Annie St-Arneault and Annie Turcotte — many women are all too aware of the violence they and others face daily across Canada.
