More and more people are becoming ACE aware, yet in my community, we are often not as aware of each other’s work as we could be. I look forward to using our Atlantic Canada Community ACEs page to connect and support one another, locally, as well as with others elsewhere in Canada. I am bilingual and welcome communications and posts in French.

I live in the Saint John New Brunswick area and am a health professional employed by Horizon Health Network. My role involves providing leadership to the organization in the areas of preventing and reducing the risk of chronic physical and mental illnesses, and promoting the health of the population. The advances in ACEs science (neurobiology, epigenetics and immune function/inflammation) and the ground breaking work of leaders in healthcare and other fields across society has convinced me that this is where, collectively, we must focus our efforts.

Personally, I love many people who have been impacted directly by ACEs, and feel strongly that everyone in our society needs to be ACEs aware and trauma-informed. Healing comes through relationship and each of us can make a positive difference in someone’s life. Ultimately if we unite to support families and individuals, we can transform our communities into safe and resilient places to grow, live, work and play.

Elizabeth

I entered adulthood training as an Early Childhood Educator in the 1980s. Learning about child development validated what I knew of the gaps in my own experience, and has informed my interpersonal lens since.

I used my understanding of human psychological needs to create success in ECE, business, and adult education. I currently offer peer support to trauma survivors, and workshops on trauma related topics through my social enterprise Interpersonal Insights.

I have been a champion for ACEs Awareness, Recovery and Prevention since 2014 when I first heard about the original ACE Study.

My vision for the Atlantic ACEs and TIP Network is to build a central community of practice so we can collaborate to create #ACEsAwareNS #ACEsAwareNB #ACEsAwareAtlanticCanada #ACEsAwareCanada.

Join Us!

All are invited and welcome to join our community. We  are particularly interested in hearing from others in Canada or along the Canadian border and all others in this worldwide movement.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

@Elizabeth Perry@Denise Connors
