Third Annual Resilience Week Virginia Begins May 1

The third annual Resilience Week Virginia will take place May 1-7, 2022. Resilience Week Virginia has been celebrated during the first week in May since 2020, led by Virginia's Trauma-Informed Community Networks. In past years, local libraries have created collections of books related to resilience, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts created a shareable art activity, organizations hosted virtual and community film screenings and trainings, and much more. The Governor of Virginia has signed a proclamation each year, including this year!

Resilience Week Virginia 2022 includes a free virtual conference, Building Resilient Communities, on May 5 from 9:00am-3:30pm, which features 12 workshops highlighting the trauma-informed, resilience-building, and healing-centered work being done on the ground throughout Virginia.

Resilience Week is for everyone and can be celebrated individually, with family and friends, within organizations, and in community. Celebrating resilience can look like engaging in self-care, taking a walk with a friend, building a community garden, planning wellness activities for staff, hosting a workshop about trauma-informed approaches, engaging in a community art project, planning a community block party - the list goes on! The week is opportunity to connect and prioritize care, kindness, and compassion. Visit the Resilience Week website for more information and resources.
