Meet Kahshanna Evans, Director of the CRC Accelerator, on this week's History. Culture. Trauma. Podcast. Thursday, 1 p.m. PT

“The way we show up among our peers, in our communities, and in our societies will either foster a culture of belonging or it won’t. Avoidance, apathy, gaslighting, and disconnection may have gotten us where we are now, but they won’t get us where we’re going,” says PACEs Connection’s newest staff member, Kahshanna Evans, as she begins her role in helping people who want to start or revitalize PACEs Connection communities learn how to do community development.

Evans brings a passion for uniting people through stories and trauma-informed awareness to her role as the new Director of Creating Resilient Communities at PACEs Connection, and will share more about her goals for the program, and herself, on this week's History. Culture. Trauma. podcast with co-hosts Ingrid Cockhren, CEO of PACEs Connection, and Mathew Portell, Director of Education and Outreach.

Evans, who has been a leading strategic thinker in communications, tech, professional services, and wellness, joined PACEs Connection in March. In her role, she leads the team of PACEs Connection community development experts – each with his or her own subject matter expertise – in bringing their respective webinars to PACEs Connection members. She also coordinates the marketing of the CRC Accelerator –a kind of community college of community building – in which PACEs Connection members can take multiple courses toward earning a 16-hour certification in learning how to create a trauma-informed community.

“The reality is that getting over painful circumstances is not the same as getting through them,” says Evans of her own life experiences.

“There will never be a time when we don’t need continued support from our friends, coworkers, and loved ones in a society ready to cultivate trauma-informed awareness, education, and resilience,” said Evans.

“That’s why I look forward to building on these shared values with the PACEs Connection team: to empower people, families, communities, and organizations with the human-focused tools and living resources needed for a better world,” she said.

The 16-hour CRC accelerator is focused on supporting and developing individual advocates and organizational agents of change in transforming their communities and organizations using PACEs trauma-informed awareness and resilience-building frameworks.(Click here to review a brief description of each event. The CRC Accelerator program is supported by Genentech and Third Sector New England (TSNE) PACEs Connection’s fiscal partner.
