By Allison Stephens, 12/22/21, positiveexperience.org/category/blog/

In their new article, “Child Physical Abuse did not Increase During the Pandemic” in JAMA Pediatrics, Dr. Robert Sege and Dr. Allison Stephens of the HOPE National Resource Center discuss how child abuse is actually not on the rise as many others have suspected. This article evaluates the data and discusses the reasons why many professionals and advocates have been concerned about child abuse during the pandemic. It also highlights how important it is for families to have the services and supports they need to promote positive childhood experiences to prevent child abuse.

WRONG!

Children's helpline had a 400% increase. Just because the school teachers didn't report any cases...oh wait a minute... the schools were CLOSED!

This article is misleading in so many ways, like the article itself says. "It is impossible to ask parents, even anonymously, if they abuse their children."

So we look at the stats we do have, not those that can't be calculated.

The sexual abuse line had an 800% increase with the first time in history the majority of calls were minors who were being victimised by those living in the residence.

As professionals in the ACE's arena, we can expect an 800% increase within the next 10 years.

From the 10 protective and Positive Experiences that may counteract ACE's, all 10 were removed by the restrictions across the world.

Appalled by the lack of real data in the article.
