In an effort to increase access to enrollment assistance for consumers, the Centers for Medicare & Services (CMS) will make $80 million available in grants to Navigators in Federal Marketplaces for the 2022 plan year. The funding, which will be used for outreach and education efforts, is the largest allocation CMS has made available for Navigator grants to date and represents an eight-fold increase in funding from the previous year.Funding for demonstration projects designed to protect and safeguard farmworker families and stop the spread of COVID-19, with focus on testing, quarantine, treatment, vaccination, education, and safety precautions. Closing date: on a rolling basis until May 1, 2021.The purpose of this funding is to address multiple forms of violence impacting adolescents and young adults, particularly in communities with high rates of violence, by implementing prevention approaches with an emphasis on the outer levels of the social-ecological model (i.e., community/societal levels). Closing date: May 1, 2021.Grants to develop and expand existing farm to school initiatives and other food and learning initiatives with the overall goal of increasing knowledge of agriculture and improving the nutritional health of children. Closing date: May 3, 2021.Grants to address COVID-19 and advance health equity in racial and ethnic minority groups and rural populations. Award recipients and their partners must implement a coordinated and holistic approach that builds on culturally, linguistically, and locally tailored strategies and best practices to reduce COVID-19 risk among health disparity populations. Closing date: May 3, 2021.Grants to plan or implement food projects designed to meet the needs of low-income individuals and increase community self-reliance concerning food and nutrition. Closing date: May 4, 2021.Grants to support community-driven projects designed to engage, educate, and empower communities to better understand local environmental and public health issues and develop strategies for addressing those issues, building consensus in the community, and setting community priorities. Closing date: May 7, 2021.Awards funding to coalitions working to reduce substance abuse among youth and to establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, organizations, and governmental entities. Closing date: May 10, 2021.The program provides financial assistance to students pursuing primary care health professions training in return for a commitment to provide primary health services in a Health Professional Shortage Area. Eligible degrees or certificates include medicine, dentistry, nurse practitioner, nurse-midwifery, or physician assistant. Closing Date: May 11, 2021.Grants for training and deployment of community health workers to build and strengthen community resilience to fight COVID-19 in geographic areas and populations that experience health disparities. Closing date: May 24, 2021.Grants to prevent fatalities, disease, and injury from mining and secure safe and healthy working conditions for miners through laws, regulations, safety improvements, education, and training.Closing date: May 28, 2021.Grants for education and training programs to help identify, avoid, and prevent unsafe working conditions in and around mines. Special emphasis is given to programs and materials that target workers at smaller mines, including training miners and employers about new MSHA standards, high-risk activities, or hazards identified by MSHA. Closing date: May 28, 2021.Program to help rural communities use the unique capabilities of telecommunications to connect to each other and to the world, overcoming the effects of remoteness and low population density. For example, this program can link teachers and medical service providers in one area to students and patients in another. Closing date: June 4, 2021.Supports targeted technical assistance, training, and other activities leading to the development or expansion of small and emerging private businesses in rural areas that have fewer than 50 employees and less than $1,000,000 in gross revenues.
