"A Better Normal" Community Discussion Series-Equity in the ACEs Movement

In this installment of the A Better Normal community discussion, ACEs Connection's very own TN & Midwest community facilitator Ingrid Cockhren will discuss the need for equitable practices within the worldwide ACEs movement.  In light of the recent civil unrest and the COVID-19 pandemic, there has never been more of a need to address systemic/institutional racism and the resulting pervasive historical and racial trauma.  This discussion will center racism, bias and inequity as root causes of the many disparities that plague marginalized communities and will serve as a call-to-action for those in the worldwide ACEs movement to become anti-racist.

The co-host of this discussion is Kia Jarmon of Nashville, TN.  Jarmon is an entrepreneur that intersects between communication, culture, crisis, and community, most specifically through her leadership with MEPR Agency - a boutique PR and community engagement agency that she founded in 2006. She has developed a reputation for delivering the hard, many times uncomfortable, truths about effectively leading an organization through sustainable growth.

Together, Cockhren and Jarmon will discuss the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion within the steering committees and leadership of ACEs initiatives and how initiatives can be more effective in engaging diverse communities.  This discussion will also focus on how ACEs initiatives can enact equitable practices and heal racial trauma within their respective communities.

WHEN:  Tuesday, October 20, 2020, 12pm - 1pm PT
